With so many gastronomic offers in Mexico City, it is very difficult to choose, but not impossible. In this list there are options for everyone, some are more expensive places, and others extremely cheap, but what you are guaranteed is that
the food will be brutal. These are the top places in Mexico City for lunch in 2021.
ITACATE DEL MAR
For all Contramar lovers, chef Gaby Cámara recently opened a new place in the Historic Center of Mexico City, Itacate del Mar. This place is much more relaxed than its big brother Contramar, where the entire social scene is hanging out everyday. Here you will enjoy mexican snacks and tostadas in the heart of the city, in a more laid back spot.

CASTIZO
Castizo is a cradle of Spanish delicacies in La Condesa. What did we order? The pumpkin flowers in tempura stuffed with truffled cheese, the traditional Spanish croquetas and the quail rice with mushrooms and truffle. For dessert we ordered the angelita cookies and the Santiago cake with turrón ice cream. If you are reading this far, surely you are already making your reservation.

URGE TAQUITO
These tacos are made out of BIRRIA, but they are not just anything, it is fine street birria and I dare say with my hand on my heart, my favorite from all over Mexico. So, for all lovers of this Mexican delicatessen, do yourself a favor and go south of Mexico City, or place an order by phone at Urge Taquito and ask for a Mulita. What is the Mulita? It is birria in a flour tortilla with a cheese crust and avocado, when you taste it you will feel heaven on earth.

TRASTEVERE
Trastevere is ” the place to be ” in CDMX. The elegant Italian restaurant in Las Lomas has many reasons to be the best place to go with your friends, one of them is the truffle pizza and the other is the lemon pie dessert. If you need more reasons, the decoration is ideal and you will always find a high end crowd, there is no way you’ll regret having lunch here.

BACON BAR
The Bacon Bar & Tap Room is bacon heaven in CDMX. Of course, you can order the best burgers, such as La Ancha that has house bread, beef, cheddar cheese, bacon and ancho chili aioli. Yummy! But you can also order desserts with bacon, say what!? that’s right, they have The Great Golden Bread: French bread covered with fruity pebbles, bacon, Nutella, banana, and maple syrup. Darn it! I just had the worst craving for this.

LA MARI
Chef David Castro Hussong responsible for the mega successful Fauna restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe is the genius and creator of La Mari, the new restaurant in Lomas de Chapultepec. This place does not have a Baja menu, but rather pays tribute to all the “Mari’s” who have worked with us at home. I am incredibly eager to eat in this new gastronomic promise of Mexico.
